What is the ToGER CRE?
The Centre of Research Excellence (CRE) in Translation of Genetic Eye Research (ToGER) commenced in 2012. Funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), the ToGER CRE aims to create a consolidated and collaborative gene discovery centre for blinding eye diseases, with the ultimate goal of translating new research findings into improved outcomes for eye health.

Discovering genes related to eye disease will help us to:
  • Provide early diagnosis and treatment to prevent blindness.
  • Better understand disease risk for couples wishing to have children.
  • Develop new treatment options.
